Do you prefer fabric or leather sofas?

At CJM Furniture, we understand that choosing the right sofa is essential when creating a comfortable and stylish living space. One of the most debated questions among sofa buyers in Ireland is whether to go for a fabric or leather option. To help our customers make informed decisions, we recently ran a social media poll to gather insights into people's preferences. Here’s what we discovered from the data!

Fabric Sofas vs. Leather Sofas - Which Do People Prefer?

We asked 257 people a simple question: Do you prefer fabric or leather sofas? The results were clear:

  • 169 people (65.8%) preferred fabric sofas.
  • 88 people (34.2%) preferred leather sofas.

This overwhelming preference for fabric sofas highlights that comfort and versatility are key factors for most people. Fabric sofas come in a wide range of textures, colours, and patterns, making them ideal for homes looking to express personality while maintaining warmth and cosiness. On the other hand, leather sofas are loved for their sleek, luxurious feel and easy maintenance, appealing to those who prioritise style and durability.

Patterned or Plain Fabric?

For those who preferred fabric sofas, we delved deeper into the type of fabric they liked. Out of 290 respondents:

  • 276 people (95.2%) preferred plain fabric sofas.
  • Only 14 people (4.8%) opted for patterned sofas.

This shows that simplicity is key when it comes to fabric design. Plain fabric offers a timeless look and easily complements a variety of décor styles. Patterned fabric, though less popular, can add a unique, artistic touch for those looking to make a bold statement.

Wooden Frame or Full Fabric Sofas?

Another important factor when choosing a sofa is the frame style. We asked 264 participants: Do you prefer a wooden frame or a full fabric sofa?

  • 200 people (75.8%) preferred a full fabric sofa.
  • 64 people (24.2%) liked a wooden frame.

Full fabric sofas offer seamless comfort with a softer, more relaxed aesthetic. On the other hand, wooden frames provide a sturdier look and a touch of craftsmanship, appealing to those who prefer a traditional or rustic vibe in their living space.

Sofa Sets or Singular Sofas?

When it comes to choosing between sofa sets or singular sofas, our poll of 232 participants showed:

  • 126 people (54.3%) preferred singular sofas.
  • 106 people (45.7%) liked the idea of a sofa set (e.g., 2+2, 2+3, 3+1).

Singular sofas, like a cozy armchair or a stylish loveseat, give more flexibility in smaller spaces or for those who prefer a mix-and-match approach. Sofa sets, on the other hand, are popular for providing a cohesive, balanced look in larger living areas.
